Just Hooked: Attention-Grabbing Jewels

Most people have at least one hilarious story about when someone tried to pick them up…and failed miserably. Just last week I had a volleyball nearly hit me 10 times while lying on the beach, finally the guy came up and told me he was doing it on purpose because he thought I was good looking. Newsflash buddy: girls don’t like having things hurled at them when they’re trying to relax…unless it’s a Prada purse, then go ahead and hurl away.

As irritating as awkward pickup experiences are, i’m not gonna lie, they’re also pretty flattering. Our newest jewellery is inspired by some of the most overused (and amusing) pickup lines out there:

Believe - Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?
Dreaming - The last time I saw you, I was dreaming

Angel - I must have died and gone to Heaven, because I am seeing an angel

Stars - Was your father a thief? 'Cause someone stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes

The gorgeous designs are sure to get you some attention and maybe get picked up (fingers crossed it’s by a Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike!). The bright colours and sparkles show that you’re fun and outgoing.

The jewelry is made of sterling silver and swavorski crystals.  When I wear this line, I can’t help but feel like a glamorous princess. The crystals are delicate with just the right amount of bling. Wear this jewelry to spice up you favorite lbd or to add a touch of feminine charm to your trendy cropped leather jacket. Here's a few outfits I would wear with this jewellery:

Check out the brand new Pickup Line Jewellery at Orangefish.ca and get ready for a fabulous night out on the town.

You have probably heard some pretty good pick-up lines like the ones that Will Smith used on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.  Check out this short video clip on youtube and then come back and tell us some  of  your favourite lines.

It's Not Over Until It's Over!

You know summer is winding down when Staples starts to get busier than normal, dozens of teens can be seen invading Costco and Ikea to stock up their dorms, and you’ve already started to think about what leather boots will look good with your chunky knit cardigan.

But as they say (whoever they is…) “It’s not over till its over”. We’ve still got a few more weeks of summer left to enjoy, so lets make them the best weeks yet! We’ve definitely got some exciting stuff to look forward to:

a)   On Tuesday August 24 Katy Perry’s newest CD “Teenage Dream” is released. I’m sure she’ll have a bunch of fun tunes perfect for your summer bbq.

b)  If you live near Toronto get pumped for Thursday August 26. It’s the grand opening of Victoria’s Secret at Yorkdale. That’s right ladies, no more traveling across the border to get your hands on this popular brand. The opening is a big deal, apparently some of the VS Angels are even making an appearance. Once you’ve shopped your heart out and stacked your drawers with lacy treats, check out the Bra and Panty Bag to make sure your new purchases stay in top condition.

c)   Sunday August 29 is the Emmy Awards! All you TV addicts (myself included) won’t want to miss this. Get together a bunch of friends, cook up some party food, mix up a couple cosmos and encourage some good ol’ fashioned competition as each person roots for their fav series or actor. Who I’m cheering for:

  • Best Actor in a Comedy Series: Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory)
  • Best Actor in a Drama Series: Michael C. Hall (Dexter in Dexter) even though I think Jon Hamm will win for Mad Men
  • Best Comedy Series: The Office or Glee…I can’t make up my mind
  • Best Drama Series: Mad Men or True Blood’ll win but I’m a Dexter fan
d)   Tuesday September 7 Sarah Bareilles’ new CD Kaleidoscope Heart is released. She’s got a gorgeous voice and is still unknown enough that you can claim you knew about her first when she gets super big.  Check out the pre-released single “King of Anything”

What do you have planned for your last few weeks of summer?

Pass the Corona!

No summer is complete without an ice-cold Corona in your hand. Orangefish wants you to enjoy your last few weeks of summer in style, so we’re featuring our Lime Beer Bottle Platter and Flip Flop Bottle opener as our “Weekly Special”.

You can’t have a good corona without a lime. The beer bottle platter comes with a special knife to cut the limes into perfect wedges, and the beer bottle shape is super fun. Totally beats a boring white cutting board if you ask me.

One of the classic symbols of summer is the colorful rubber flip flop. This bottle opener ensures that you can have a taste of summer all year round. It’s totally adorable and would make a great little thank you for someone throwing a party. Or pair it with a box of classic Italian sodas or a pack of beer and wrap it in a colorful bow for a unique and fun birthday present.

And for a little extra corona fun, check out this commercial:

Hollywood’s Best Dressed: Toddler Edition

Maybe I’m imagining things, but it seems like half of Hollywood has been pregnant for the last year or two. From pretty much all the Victoria Secret Angels to A-listers like Amy Adams and Jessica Alba, mommy-chic is a trend that just keeps getting bigger. Even Gucci, a classic fashion house, is hopping on the bandwagon and releasing a children’s line this fall.

I think everyone loves kid’s clothing and accessories so much because they’re always fun and colorful.

For the title of most stylish A-list toddler it’s a toss up between Honor Warren (Jessica Alba and Cash Warren‘s daughter) and Suri Cruise (TomKat’s daughter).

Say what you will about her dad’s crazy couch-jumping antics, you can’t deny that this toddler’s got major style. I love these outfits so much I totally want an adult-sized version so I can wear them. She looks so chic and put together and the metallic accessories are right on-trend. I’m not so sure that I’m loving the high heels on a 3 year old though. But then again, when I was a toddler I’d walk around the house in my mom’s pumps and pretend to be a “grown-up”. At least Suri’s heels fit her better than my mom’s fit me.

Honor Warren rocks the same bohemian-chic, layered look her mom’s known for. From snake-skin gladiator sandles, to jumpers paired with a military inspired jacket, Honor is rocking every trend the full-grown fashionistas are wearing.

It seems that most popular kids clothes have the word “organic” somewhere in the title. Looks like celebs want their kids to be sporting more natural and eco-friendly fashion (and that is definitely a good thing!)

Who do you think has the best style?

It's a Baby's World

All you have to do is take a look at any celebrity toddler (Suri, Honor, Maddox to name a few) to know that adults aren’t the only ones who can rock a stylish outfit! At Orangefish we know how many of you are looking for chic duds for your little ones. That’s why we’ve hooked some of the cutest fashions and accessories for you.

Our leather baby bibs are selling like crazy! This doesn’t really surprise us because they’re super practical (they save time and effort. Precious things to any mother) and come in a bunch of adorable designs. When we saw this new design we knew we just had to have it! The winged heart is a little rock and roll and a little glam princess. Perfect for your mini fashionista!

We’ve got a bunch of new baby onesies in too! If you’ve got a funny bone then check out our cute and colorful onzes with sayings like “When I grow up I want to be as cool as my Aunt”. Or if you’re looking for something a bit more chic, you’ll love our Organic cotton onesies with French text on them. French just seems to just make everything just a little more stylish.

I know how much every kid looks forward to licking the cookie batter off the big spoon. So why not get them involved in the whole baking process. Our newest apron is made with the cutest cupcake fabric and has “cupcake” printed on it. The perfect accessory for any budding chef.

Finally, as any girl can appreciate, ponytails can be really handy but can also be pretty bad for your hair. They tug and pull on your hair, which causes breakage, which then causes the dreaded thing…frizz (and what girl wants that! No matter what age you are). And if you have a little one squirming around as you try to make their hair presentable, ponytails can be even more difficult to work with. Presenting….Moni Poni! It’s a plastic hair accessory that makes ponytails easy and safe for you hair. The thick plastic won’t tangle your hair and the spiral design is super easy to use. Plus the little designs on the end are adorable!

We’re all about style at Orangefish but we know things have to be practical too. So we made sure with all of our little rascals products to find things that’ll make your life a little easier while still being fun and fashionable. Check out all of our little rascals just hooked products.

Do you have any secret stylish mom-solutions?

Introducing...The New and Improved Orangefish!

It’s here… (cue the epic intro music). The new website has finally launched! We’ve been preparing this website for a while and the Orangefish crew is super excited to reveal it. We’ve redesigned the whole look and feel of the site: a little nip here, and a tuck there. But don’t worry, we haven’t gone all Heidi Montag on you. We still offer all your favorite products and some exciting new ones. So stay tuned!

The biggest change is our new format: we are now a members-only site. Its an exclusive club that you don’t even have to leave your desk chair to join. We’re providing only the coolest products in limited quantities. We have some amazing features like star ratings, user reviews, wishlists, and a personal shopper who will give you personalized gift suggestions. Also, we know that everyone’s looking for something different in a product: whether its eco-friendly, a celebrity fav, featured in the media, made in Canada, or handmade. We’ve placed colorful icons on the product pages so you can instantly tell what the special features are of each item.

Free money. How is that possible? Well, Orangefish has a new promotion where if you tell a friend about us and they create an account and make a purchase you’ll get a $10.00 credit to your account! How awesome is that! Even though Orangefish is an exclusive site, we love the friends of our friends so they’ll get to skip that pesky waitlist line and get right to shopping. So get going and invite a few of your 400 Facebook friends.

We’re all busy, so when we online shop we love for things to be quick and easy. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun along the way! We’ve injected a healthy dose of fun into our site with brand new product categories, descriptions, and products. And we know how much everyone loves their Facebook and Twitter so we’ve made it even easier to share your favorite products with your social networking site of choice.
So go ahead crack a smile, we encourage it!

Remember, this is an exclusive site so we have a limited number of spots. Hurry and sign up for an account to avoid getting stuck on the waitlist. Then cuddle up with your computer and get shopping!

What do you think of the new site? Is there a product you can't wait to get your hands on?
