Bringing Swagger to Suburbia

I love a good laugh (and after the G20 madness I think we all need one). So when I was browsing around Youtube this morning, and found this video, I thought I just HAD to share it on my blog.

“This one goes out to all you minivan families out there. Sienna SE in the house.”

The video’s called “Swagger Wagon” and it features a mother, a father and 2 adorable toddlers rapping about suburban life and how they “roll hard through the streets and the cul-de-sacs”. It’s the perfect recipe for laugh-until-you-can’t-breathe hilarity. You can bet I forwarded this to a bunch of my Facebook friends. Watch out for when the blonde toddlers start busting out the breakdance moves, or when mom raps about her mean cupcake skills. The video is a viral advertisement for Toyota’s Sienna SE. I’m guessing there’s a very happy marketing team somewhere out there, as the Sienna family takes over YouTube.

I guess I can stop telling you how hilarious it is and let you watch it for yourself.

warning: There’s about a 99% chance this song will get stuck in your head.

P Squared: Pretty and Practical

Bits, bytes, megabytes. It all sounds so blah and boring to me. This is a style emergency! But don’t worry, as always I have a fashionista-friendly fix! Mimobot’s newest usb drive, Fairybit is probably the cutest thing to hit the gadget world in a while. Bright blue, and fully outfitted with a pair of fairywings and a voice that’s activated when you plug her in, it’s no wonder she’s so popular! Perfect for the office, school, or just to use at home, Fairybit will store your data in style. You may even find others looking at your “Ultra Stylish Buy” longingly with a glint of jealousy in their eye.

MMVA Buzz: gg style

Between the G20 and the MMVAs it’s a busy summer in Toronto this year!

The Much Music Video Awards aired last night, hosted by Miley Cyrus, who was sporting some newly chopped off locks. I’m not too sure about her performance outfit choices, but I’m sure there’s already a ton of buzz about it on twitter so I’ll give the girl a bit of a break.

As an award show fashion junkie I of course have to critique mmva fashion:

Fearless Fashionista: I loved Nina Dobrev’s metallic and blue dress. It was chic and a bit sparkly (but not too much). I wish I loved her shoes as much as her dress, but they didn’t seem to fit her properly. I’d give her an 8/10.

Copy Cat or Just Catty?: I actually loved Ashley Greene ‘s dress, but it stirred up quite a bit of controversy. Aparently she “copied” Kristen Stewart, who wore a similar dress a few weeks ago. I think both the dresses are super cute and really aren’t that similar at all. People just love a bit of controversy. 9/10

Call the Style Police: Shenae Grimes, what were you thinking with that hair. It would be cute enough for a casual day, but not for a glamorous event. 6/10

A Bump in the Fashion Road: Love Whitney Port, but wasn’t loving her dress. I wish she had worn something from her own fall line, which is looking like it’s going to be fabulous. 7/10

Oddest Outfit: Katy Perry Glued lollipops to herself. I think that speaks for itself. The girl does know how to make an impression though so power to her! 6/10

Notable highlights: Bieber fever continued as Justin Bieber took home 3 awards and sent the tweens in the crowd swooning. I was very happy to see that Wavin’ Flag by Young Artists for Haiti won MuchMusic.com’s most watched video. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend checking it out. It never fails to give me goosebumps!

And there you have it. Toronto’s craziest event of the year is over. Let the countdown to next year begin!

Shopping For Dad: an Ultra Stylish Buy

Father’s Day is coming up, and if you’re anything like me, I’ll bet you’re looking for that perfect gift that’ll make a good impression. Mimobot USB sticks will make any tech savvy dad jump for joy. Does your dad exclaim, “May the force be with you” at random moments of the day? The Star Wars themed designs will impress any fan, whether they support Obiwan, or like to shake things up and join the dark side with Darth Vader. If your dad has a pet parrot or starts sentences with “Argh Matey!” then the Pirate design was made for him. Or maybe your dad is more of a “bossy bear?” Show how much he means to you with a design that fits his personality perfectly; there’s one for every kind of dad! Men like to be stylish too, so give your dad’s boring usb stick a much-needed makeover!

Saving the World One Necklace at a Time

Galaxy Girl here with your latest trend alert. Just in case you've been living under a rock and didn't notice: Eco Friendly and Fair Trade are totally in this season. So get on the boat and save some trees while you're at it.

My latest enviro discovery: these super fab necklaces made of Tagua Nuts from the Amazon Rain Forest. Super exotic and super stylish! The nuts are collected after they've fallen off the tree, so the jewellery is 100% eco- friendly. Did I mention they come in bright orange, green, and blue? You can have one to match every outfit!

As a big supporter of girl power, I love that these fair trade necklaces allow female artisans in Columbia to be creative and support their families. And speaking of major girl power, Oprah even loves Tagua jewellery because "we are ALL links in the great human chain". Now you can make a difference in the world, and look fabulous while you're doing it! What’s your favorite fair trade or eco-friendly find?

Meet Galaxy Girl!

Hello citizens of the World Wide Web! There’s a new girl in town and her name is Galaxy Girl. I’m a Fashionista with a capital F. I love to have fun and I think my style reflects that. I’m the Social Bloggerfly for orangefish.ca, a fabulous online boutique where you can find Unique Stylish & Fun items. I’ll be visiting this blog often to give you guys tips about letting your own style shine or just to share links to cool things I see in the online world. I love to gab so don’t be afraid to reply with tips of your own, or just to say hi!

Passions: New Places, new friends, the environment, music, sports, and of course parties.

Personality: Adventurous, charismatic, confident, fun loving, and curious.

Favorite Colour: Yellow, like the summer sun (for now!)

Style: Fun, daring, and flirty (I’m definitely not a wallflower)

Favorite Item in My Closet: A super-fab pair of fuchsia pumps

The Rumour Mill a.k.a. What people say when they think I’m not listening (and of course I am!): gg is impatient, impulsive, a bit of a know it all, and always gets into trouble. (Sounds like the green monster has arrived to spoil the party).
