Jet-Setting In Style

Galaxy Girl here. This week I have a confession to make:
I, Galaxy girl, am a bra addict. I just love them all - lacy, frilly, sexy, stylish and colourful – they each have a purpose! I’m also a chronic overpacker so when I go on vacation I know how much I hate cramming my brand new fancy delicates into an overstuffed suitcase (standing on your suitcase so you can zip it shut can’t possibly be good!) Us girls are experts at fitting a years worth of clothes into the tiniest of suitcases. But we shouldn’t have to damage our clothes to do it. A lumpy brazier is definitely not so stylish; a big fashion no-no. But who really has the time (or patience!) to painstakenly arrange our suitcases and stuff stocks around our them so they won’t get crushed. I’d rather be getting a manicure (or buying even more bras!)

The bra bag offers a solution that every girl would love! It doesn’t sacrifice any space and protects your delicates at the same time. And it’s super stylish so it’s fashionista-friendly! My favorite is the Tiffany Bag and its matching panty bag. I just love all the girly polka dots. I’m going on vacation soon and you can bet Tiffany will be in my suitcase! What’s your favorite bra bag design?

Getting my Beach on with Orangefish.ca

On Wednesday July 21st , Orangefish held a fabulous event “The Heat is On: From the Boardroom to the Beach” at Verity, a chic women’s club in Toronto. We had amazing speakers from puh-Nash, Perceptions EyewearFit, Firm ‘n Fab and Indigo Books who gave us some great tips about making the most out of the summer.
A few things I learned:
  * Bikinis aren’t appropriate for the office. Okay, so maybe I already knew that, but Nashly from puh-Nash showed us that you can take your style from the boardroom to the beach (and still look like the savvy professional you are).  It’s all about the accessories! You can take a cute dress and wear it to the beach, work, and out on a hot date using statement jewelry, a blazer, and killer heels. Talk about multitasking!

Glasses can tell a lot about a person if they’re chosen right. They are not just functional but are also an accessory. This calls for a shopping trip for some new shades!

  * The last time you ate that ooey gooey piece of cheese pizza did you say “its okay I’ll just walk home extra fast”. Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way guys. Eating healthy real, unprocessed foods is the key to looking hot in your favorite bikini. Check out this crazy video on guest speaker Funk Roberts' fitness blog.
  * We all love those late summer nights out but they could actually be keeping you from trimming down your waistline. People who get less than 8 hours of sleep find it more difficult to lose weight. And with summer’s shortened hemlines what girl wants that? Sounds like it’s time for a nap for me! Bring on the chamomile tea and pjs!
     * I now have a reading list of at least 20 books to get through while I soak up some rays on the beach. I better put down Cosmo and get going! On my list:

And what’s an event without prizes. There was no shortage in this area at the event! They included:
From puh-Nash:
A pair of super cute sparkly gold flip flops
From Orangefish.ca

From Perceptions Eyewear:

From Fit, Firm, ‘n Fab:
an e-book about keeping fit

Congrats to the lucky winners! But everyone was a winner for attending and taking time to do something for themselves. And I can’t leave out the amazing giftbags! They included some awesome swag like the popular book “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, 2 tote bags, soap, and 3 gift certificates. Participants left feeling rejuvenated, motivated and inspired… and they also felt like shopping!

A Fashionista's Beach Survival Guide

Last weekend turned out to be a great surprise – what a a wonderful sunny weekend. Which meant the Beaches in Toronto were packed full of people. I joined in on the fun and stopped by the Volleyball tourney that was going on. With the Beaches Jazz Festival coming up, and hopefully many more beachy weekends on the horizon I thought it was necessary to create my Fashionista Beach Survival kit:

You’ll need

a)     A fun and flirty bikini and cover-up. I love the look of the trendy monokinis but can you say bad tan lines!

b)    A beach tote that’s both practical and chic (leave your white leather LV at home girls!)

c)     some trendy sunglasses and flip flops. Accessories are an easy way to show off the latest trends  (especially if you can find them cute and cheap).

d)    A statement accessory. I prefer not to wear metal because it’ll get hot under the sun. This Tagua Nut necklace is super cute and environmentally friendly too!

Or I love this one from Orangefish.ca if you like to keep things simple but chic:

Now you’re set to take over the beach! We spend all winter huddled inside so why not head out and soak up some good ol’ Vitamin E (but don’t forget suntan lotion. Looking like a giant lobster is not so glamorous).

And don’t forget, Orangefish.ca’s The Heat is On: From the Boardroom to the Beach is happening this Wednesday. You’ll receive some great tips about summer style, fitness, and beach reads. Not to mention, you’ll get a gift bag valued at over $100.00 and a chance to win some great prizes. If you’re in Toronto, you don’t want to miss this!
What's your must-have beach item?
