You Can Make It In New York

One of my favourite songs of all time is by Alicia KeysEmpire State of Mind. Even though I myself cannot carry a tune, I love to blast this song. It is totally inspiring and makes you feel like – “Wow if only I lived in NYC I would be uber-uccessful right now because that is where dreams really do come true!”

Check out this verse and imagine Alicia singing it out:
Even if it ain’t all it seems, I got a pocketful of dreams
Baby, I'm from New York
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York, New York, New York!

I love the big apple! It is probably one of my favourite city escapes of all time and today I wanted to take a look at three fab designers from NYC that have already made it big. These three ladies show that NYC is the city that never sleeps and the place where dreams do come true! These lines have been featured in Cosmo, People, Lucky, In Style and even Oprah over the years.

Amrita Singh
Based in SoHo, NYC, Amrita infuses her fashion-forward pieces with the most beautiful traditions of Indian jewelry. I might not appreciate Indian food, but I do love their jewelry! It is so bold, bright and colorful! She is super popular for her bangles and is really known for creating statement necklaces, cocktail rings, chandelier earrings, and other celeb-worthy pieces that sparkle and shine.

Amrita’s creations have appeared in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Women's Wear Daily, O Magazine, Marie Claire, Glamour, In Style, W Magazine, and dozens of other fashion and lifestyle publications.
Her jewelry and accessories are worn by celebrities including Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Kim Kardashian and Katie Holmes.

KiraKira Jewellry
Suz Somersal started KiraKira in 2007, when she lived and studied jewelry and metalsmithing in Italy and Japan. I like this girl – she has really gone out into the world to see what is happening! In 2011, Suz moved across the world to NYC where she partnered with Whitney Blake. Outgrowing two apartments and three showrooms, KiraKira has shipped over 10,000 of KiraKira's signature fuchsia boxes to customers and boutiques around the world. She discovered the key to her success and is truly living the dream.
Now let’s talk style. KiraKira's aesthetic is modern but nostalgic, often sourcing inspiration from the nature and architecture of the world's most exotic locations. I love that some of her pieces are so delicate just like nature intended. She mixes vintage with modern and it just works!
These pieces have appeared in Self, Star, Cosmopolitan, InTouch, People, Harpers, Lucky, Redbook, Teen Vogue, Women’s Health, Martha Stewart Weddings and dozens of other fashion and lifestyle publications.
Her jewelry and accessories are worn by celebrities including Katie Couric, Maggie Grace, Demi Lovato, Katherine McPhee, and Alison Sweeny.
Roberta Chiarella
Born & raised in Queens NY, Roberta graduated with a degree in graphic design & communications from Parson's School of Design in New York City. Roberta has worked in various roles for Clinique, L'Oreal, Ralph Lauren, Paloma Picasso, Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent. This lady has got it going on. She has worked for some of the biggest names in fashion and then was able to make it on her own!

This couture jewelry collection is designed in New York City and handcrafted in Rhode Island. The designs are beautifully finished and plated with the finest metals, 22kt. gold and platinum- glass, semi precious stones and SWAROVSKI® ELEMENTS. Everyone who knows me – knows I love the bling without the high price tag. These pieces definitely make a statement and will cause other women to say “heh – where did you get that?”.
These pieces have appeared in Ladies Home Journal, Red Book, Glow, Audrey, Brides, Vogue, Sports Illustrated, InStyle, People, Lucky and dozens of other fashion and lifestyle publications.
Her jewelry and accessories are worn by celebrities including Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Paige Davis and many more!
Don't you love a great success story?  I do!  Which of these designers to you like or is there someone else you think we should be looking at?
Until next time... stay looking fab!
GG
