What Exactly is Beautiful?

How many times have you heard someone say “you’re beautiful”? It gets me wondering exactly what makes a person beautiful? When do you feel the most confident and radiant? I think it’s impossible to define beauty because it means a little something different to everyone. We all know what our media thinks is beautiful: perfect hair, skin, a thin body (with boobs and a butt of course). But if you’ve ever watched Jessica Simpson’s new show “True Beauty” you’ll probably have realized that definition is just confined to our Western mass culture.

One of the coolest YouTube videos I’ve seen was released by Dove a few years ago. Incase you haven’t seen it, watch it below. It shows just how this mass definition of beauty is created, and how much work it takes through technology to achieve. So I say, feel confident, love yourself, and you’ll be beautiful. I use my clothes, and shoes, and makeup as a form of personal art to show my true personality to the world. I love all my unique qualities, so why not let them shine instead of trying to blend into what “society” says is beautiful.

Since most of us normal people don’t have makeup crews following us around, or graphic designs editing out all our possible flaws, I always love finding a little beauty tip. At home beauty treatments are a great way to take a few moments to yourself, away from work or any other stresses in life. Kick back, watch a chick flick, and indulge for a little while.

Do you have any favorite at home beauty treatments?

Here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks:

Refreshing Easy Body Scrub:
Cut a grapefruit in half. Apply sugar to the top half of the grapefruit. Rub over your body and feel great as the grapefruit exfoliates and refreshes your skin.

Perfect Pre- Pedicure treatment:
Mix a cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of either almond or sesame oil, whatever you have in the house. Gently rub the mixture over your feet for a few minutes (or get your special someone to give you a nice relaxing foot message). Then rinse and dry your feet and pull on your fluffiest cotton socks. After a few hours you’ll find that your feet are super moisturized. Then, add your favorite polish to your toes later and don’t be afraid to wear those cute peep toe wedges you have hiding in your closet.
